Abstract: All skills are rooted in the psychomotor domain. Common activities like brushing our teeth, stocking grocery store shelves, swimming, and communication require complex and coordinated movement plans that when dysfluent can create barriers to growth and participation in society. This workshop will cover the foundation skills for gross, fine, and oral motor movements. Attendees will learn about the actual motor movements required to complete common activities of daily living, vocational skills, and those required for sound production.
Behavioral Objective:
1. Participants will identify the tool skills necessary for speech production and their role in individual sounds.
2. Participants will identify at least 3 manual prompting and shaping procedures across 3 separate movements.
3. Participants will identify the 3 main muscle groups related to motor foundation skills.
