At the business meeting at IPTC 2007, Michael Fabrizio asked me to put together a committee to look into ways to make the SCS and IPTC more student friendly.  I am posting an update about this in the News section, with a copy with data in the restricted business section.  We'd like members to send feedback about the recommendations to the This email address is being protected from spambots. The committee is comprised of:

I'd like thank all committee folk for their input, and in particular thank Echo Chan and Laura Grant for overachieving.

Echo set up a Standard Celeration Society  group on Facebook , a social networking site that appeals to the college set.  She even made me sign up.   She then invited all student members to sign up so that they can network online, whatever that means.

Committee members contributed ideas, and I narrowed those 36 (occasionally overlapping) ideas into 22 individual ideas (with little overlap).  Of those 22, we ranked them in order of importance to us.  Looking at those data, I decided that we needed input from more students, so we emailed all current student members of the SCS and asked for their feedback.  The following students responded, in the order that they responded:

Valori Berends, Imran Khan, Fawna Agape, Audra Lampkins, Jayme Crooks, Kerri Kaelin, Maggie Melendez-Quinones, Yuka Koremura, Ann Sturtz, Robin Kuhn, Lee Mason.

Those data have been crunched, and we now have recommendations ranked.  Please visit the business section to see them and consider if you have additional input before we make final, formal recommendations (Feb 15th).
