Special Event at IPTC2008: Be Part of the Lindsley Archives!!!

Sample ImageThe special event at the International Precision Teaching Conference this year is Archiving Og Lindsley’s Work.  This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity offers each participant an in-depth look at a portion of the development of the Standard Celeration Chart and Precision Teaching.  You may join us at any time on Thursday [Nov. 6] , as members of the Ogden Lindsley Archive Committee will be on hand throughout the day.  But we need to know in advance that you are participating because we will only bring enough material for our participants (see below).
You will see and sort Lindsley’s work when you put items in folders, label them, and make a computer list of the folder titles, dates, and any important notes.  We can almost guarantee you at least one  "Oh wow!" experience.  This includes the opportunity to see some of Og’s thinking, including his creativity, eye for detail, ability for analysis, and inductive way of approaching problems.

We can’t guarantee what you’ll find, but some of the unique elements people have found so far include the telegram from the War Department in 1944 that told Og’s family he was a POW, correspondence with leaders in the field of psychology, the first inner behavior chart Og or anyone ever did, and notes, drawings, and chart sketches of his discoveries of frequency and of celeration.

This special event is an opportunity to learn more about the relationship between precision teaching as well as its relationship to behavior analysis, which may include how and why Og got from the lab to the chart.  Even if what you archive is a box from 10 years ago, you’ll still be looking at the history of the chart.  To assist with the archiving also offers an opportunity to see the inside of how any body of work is archived, both its detail and larger picture.  It also will give you future bragging rights about looking into the history of the field’s development!

If you like history, PT, a touch of genius, inductive thinking, detail, or just want to see what a leader in the field of behavior analysis and the founder of Precision Teaching did, this special event is just for you.

To make sure that unarchived material is shipped to IPTC 2008 with your name on it, send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and let us know you'll be there!
